The Department of Biology at the University of Vermont invites applications for a non-tenure track full-time Lecturer position in Genetics and Forensic Biology to begin January 1, 2018 continuing through the Spring 2018 semester and Academic Year 2018-19 with the possibility of renewal. The successful candidate will be expected to teach a sophomore level majors course in genetics and coordinate and mentor teaching assistants running associated recitation sections. We are particularly interested in candidates who have expertise in forensic analysis and/or human genetics and would like to take a leadership role in a newly-developed minor in Forensic Biology. Additional teaching responsibilities include lecture or laboratory courses for non-majors and majors from the introductory to advanced level in the candidate’s area of expertise.

Applicants are expected to have a PhD in Biology, Genetics, or a related field. Experience in university teaching, particularly courses for life-science majors, is strongly preferred. Submit a cover letter, curriculum vita, statement of teaching philosophy, evidence of teaching effectiveness (including course syllabi and student feedback if available) and the names and contact information of three references online at www.uvmjobs.com. Search for the position using department name (Biology) only. The reference providers will be emailed information to upload their letters.

The University is especially interested in candidates who can contribute to the diversity and excellence of the academic community through their research, teaching, and/or service. Applicants are requested to include in their cover letter information about how they will further this goal.
