The Department of Nursing at the University of Vermont (UVM) is seeking candidates for tenure and clinical track faculty positions who can advance our vision for preparing highly qualified health professionals, support the health of the population and contribute to new knowledge. Qualifications for the tenure track include a doctoral degree in nursing or related field, a masters degree in nursing with preparation relevant to the teaching area of responsibility, demonstrated research skills and competence in area of specialization. Qualifications for the clinical track include a minimum of a masters degree in nursing with preparation relevant to the teaching area of responsibility, and competence in area of specialization. The ideal candidate for either track will have expertise in the specialty of Adult Health, Pediatrics, or Public Health Nursing. Scholarship of teaching and learning would be an advantage and the candidate must be eligible for Vermont licensure. Both positions begin in August 2018. The successful candidate(s) may be appointed at the rank of Instructor, Assistant or Associate Professor based on preparation and track. Salary will be commensurate with the successful candidate’s qualifications.

The primary responsibilities of a tenure-track position include research/scholarship, teaching in the area of expertise, student advising, and service to the university. Candidates must display a commitment to diversity and inclusion. Teaching experience and a history of funded research are preferred qualifications. We seek evidence of ability to work independently and collaboratively within and across departments. A history of extramural funding is highly desirable. Candidates whose research augments current foci within the Department and College are sought. Preference will be given to researchers whose programs involve health services research including health outcomes in primary care, the impact of social-behavioral factors on health, workforce development, equity, or the organization of health care.

Responsibilities for the clinical track position include teaching in the area of expertise, supervision of undergraduates in the clinical setting, student advising, and service to the university. Evidence of current clinical practice is advantageous.

The successful candidate(s) will join a Department of Nursing of 31 full-time and more than 20 part-time clinical faculty, over 400 undergraduate students, and close to 100 graduate students. The department offers an undergraduate BS and an RN-BS program as well as a Clinical Nurse Leader masters degree program and a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) program with a direct entry option. The Department is an important part of the College of Nursing and Health Sciences, home to more approximately 1200 students in eight different health professions comprising seven undergraduate and six graduate degree programs including an interdisciplinary PhD.. The College is committed to inter-professional education and practice, integrative health, and educational innovation. We are part of an academic health sciences center including Vermont’s tertiary care hospital, the Larner College of Medicine and a state of the art interdisciplinary clinical simulation laboratory, all situated next to the University campus. There is also an established NP faculty practice nearby that is a certified medical home and serves as a primary care practice and training site for our nurse practitioners.
