Posting Summary

The Green Infrastructure Collaborative (GIC) is a partnership between Lake Champlain Sea Grant and the Vermont Department of Environmental Conservation (VTDEC). The two organizations combined efforts to bridge the gap between research, extension, and application of Green Stormwater Infrastructure (GSI) and natural asset management in Vermont; the GIC addresses University outreach goals, and supports water quality goals of VTDEC. The GIC Outreach Professional coordinates and executes all aspects of the GIC to support healthy aquatic ecosystems and hazard resiliency in the Lake Champlain Basin. The GIC Outreach Professional promotes Low Impact Development (LID), GSI, and natural assets management as the prioritized tools to manage stormwater runoff, and to build recognition of the value of natural resource functions across the landscape. As such, the GIC Outreach Professional will provide outreach programming and technical assistance to professional audiences, and contribute to state standard revisions to reflect the current state of knowledge in these fields. By coordinating meetings of the statewide Green Infrastructure Roundtable (an ad hoc group of over 100 partners in state agencies, Universities, non-profits, and the private sector), the GIC Outreach Professional works to implement the statewide Green Infrastructure Strategic Plan. The GIC Outreach Professional will assess the Roundtable over time, and will facilitate the group to strategize new initiatives and directions to inform the next phase of strategic planning and implementation. The GIC Outreach Professional is also expected to facilitate coordination of programmatic efforts between UVM and VTDEC.
