Posting Summary

Provide expertise, support and guidance regarding complex financial functions in the department of Psychiatry in the Larner College of Medicine. Provide effective customer service to faculty, staff and central support groups across the University while ensuring consistency with best business practices and compliance with University policies and guidelines. Manage post-award grant process serving as primary point of contact throughout the grant period. Provide oversight of transaction processing to ensure accuracy, consistency, timeliness and quality while providing mentoring and training to research support staff. As a key member of the department’s central administrative team, analyze complex situations, collaborate, problem solve and provide recommendations for business and accounting functions. Monitor, reconcile and provide regular reporting on annual general fund allocation along with other non-restricted funding sources. Serve as a key member of the annual budget building process. Responsible for effort allocations and the calculation of salary distributions, processing trainee/fellow appointments and reappointments, and space and equipment inventory. Provide backup support for staff recruitment and onboarding process. Provide backup for responsibilities of Department Administrator in his absence.

Minimum Qualifications (or equivalent combination of education and experience)

Associate degree in Business/Accounting or related field and three years of related financial experience required. Proficiency with spreadsheet and database applications required. Effective communication, interpersonal, and team-collaboration skills. Analytical and problem solving skills are essential. Ability to work within a large diverse research portfolio with complex funding streams.

Desirable Qualifications

Prior NIH grant management experience desirable. Experience using financial accounting and/or human resources systems such as PeopleSoft and PeopleAdmin desirable.
