Posting Summary

Lead marketing and communications strategies on behalf of the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences (CALS). Work with Associate Dean of Academic Affairs to create content and direction of college communication that supports academic programs, student programs, diversity initiatives and programs. Lead marketing and communications efforts that partner with the College’s departments, faculty, staff, students and community. Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders; research and implement new marketing materials. Oversee and coordinate CALS Representatives.

Develop and implement communications and marketing strategies that advance the College’s highest priorities. Work in collaboration with University Communications to translate University of Vermont branding for College of Agriculture and Life Sciences audiences, most prominently, prospective students and their parents. Coordinate marketing efforts for CALS summer and international programs. Coordinate marketing partnerships with the CALS Extension outreach. Create and contribute to communications channels across a variety of media, including print, web, and social (Twitter, Facebook, Instagram), all in keeping with the university’s style guide. Provide photography for CALS special events and throughout departments. Collaborate on the creation and implementation of a media relations plan for placing external stories about the College’s people and initiatives. Create new events to promote recruitment and retention.

Coordinate marketing, promotions and public relations throughout all departments within CALS by centralizing news stories and information.

Minimum Qualifications (or equivalent combination of education and experience)

Bachelor’s degree in English, Communications, Marketing, or Journalism and two to four years of experience including the application of print and online marketing tools required. Knowledge and experience with commonly used social media, image and web editing tools and software. Experience with web analytics, digital publishing and related software programs, as well as video editing required. Effective writing and editing skills including the ability to explain the various CALS programs and to tailor content to different audiences. Demonstrated strength in development of online content and experience communicating effectively in a digital environment.

Effective project management, customer service skills and ability to work with a diverse group of constituents, including academic and administrative leadership. Demonstrated ability to meet tight deadlines and adapt to changing priorities.

Demonstrated commitment to diversity, social justice, and fostering a collaborative multicultural environment is required.

Desirable Qualifications

Experience with Drupal, Google Analytics, Indesign and other Adobe programs desirable.
