Posting Summary

Perform routine to complex laboratory and technical functions in support of a Pharmacology research lab studying the control of brain blood flow and ion channel contributions to neurovascular unit interactions. Position is an opportunity to learn cutting-edge techniques and to work with leading investigators on high-orbit projects. Perform biochemical and molecular assays, maintain multi-strain transgenic and conventional animal colonies, and perform small animal surgeries. Assist in planning, designing, development, and troubleshooting of protocols, research techniques, and experiments; collect and analyze research data; perform literature searches; operate and maintain laboratory chemical, animal, and equipment inventories and purchase as needed. Serve as primary contact for the laboratory. Develop standard laboratory operating and training procedures; maintain research results, protocols, methods, compliance with chemical safety regulations, and other documentation. Maintain day-to-day functions of running the lab as assigned by supervisor.

Minimum Qualifications (or equivalent combination of education and experience)

Bachelor’s degree in pharmacology, physiology, neuroscience or a related science and one to two years’ experience in laboratory environment required.

Desirable Qualifications

Experience with imaging, electrophysiology, handling of small laboratory animals, and animal colony management desirable.
