Advertising/Posting Title Business Support Generalist

Posting Summary

Perform finance, budget, and human resource transactions (across all funds) in support of the Department of Pharmacology, with supervision from the Department Administrator. Use judgment in determining individual work tasks, methods, and priorities. Initiate, verify, and process financial forms and transactions to include purcard transaction logs and reallocations, purchase orders, travel expense forms, expense transfers, check requests, and budget change orders. Track budget expenditures and review, analyze, and reconcile expenses; resolve discrepancies, exceptions, and errors pertinent to financial transactions and reporting, and ensure compliance with University and regulatory provisions. Conduct and certify annual Space & Equipment Inventory. Initiate and process staff and faculty recruitment, appointment, reappointment, and position changes; process terminations. Conduct and certify annual Effort Report. Coordinate logistics and arrangements for Departmental Seminar Series. Maintain Department website. Perform general office activities.

Minimum Qualifications (or equivalent combination of education and experience)

Associate’s degree in accounting, business, human resources or related field and one to three years of related experience required. Effective organizational and interpersonal, written and oral communication, and problem solving and analytical skills required. Attention to detail and ability to handle confidential data required. Ability to effectively perform duties both independently and as a team member within a deadline-driven environment, with frequently changing priorities, required. Proficiency in spreadsheet, word-processing, database, and Internet applications and resources required.

Desirable Qualifications

Knowledge of Microsoft Office software highly desirable. Knowledge of PeopleSoft and PeopleAdmin desirable.

50% of full time; typical work schedule: M-F 8-12:30
