Posting Summary

Procure, process, and examine clinical diagnostic specimens (kidney, nerve, muscle, skin, etc.) for Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM). Prepare FFPE and frozen tissue for histological examination. Instruct and supervise undergraduate and graduate students, post-docs, primary investigators, medical students and pathology residents in the use of ultramicrotome, cryostat, paraffin microtome, TEM, laser scanning cytometer (LSC), and laser capture microdissector (LCM). Section with a sliding/freezing microtome, and immunostain skin biopsies for intraepidermal nerve fiber density analysis.

Minimum Qualifications (or equivalent combination of education and experience)

Bachelor’s degree in biology or related science and four to six years research laboratory experience required.

Desirable Qualifications

Experience with Light Microscopy and Electron Microscopy highly desirable.

Special Conditions External candidates must complete a 4-month probationary period, A probationary period may be required for current UVM employees
