Posting Summary

Lead all efforts to develop the leadership capacity of students of color at the University of Vermont including: developing and implementing culturally sensitive trainings; mentoring student leaders; networking to university resources; facilitating new student led initiatives; supporting student club advisors. Convene, facilitate and assess MCSC institutionalized programming which may include: Racial Aikido; Brotherhood; Sisterhood Circle; Community Meeting. Provide holistic (academic, cultural, personal) advising and support students by connecting them to campus partners. Create and administer a professional development curriculum for MCSC work-study students. Co-supervise work study students with Office Manager. Collaborate with university partners on behalf of student of color success. Advocate for student cultural needs and represent student interests on university work groups and committees. Respond to requests for and support the development of MCSC presentations, trainings and representation. Support the creation of our collaborative, creative, culturally intelligent office culture. This position reports to the Director of the Mosaic Center for Students of Color.

Minimum Qualifications (or equivalent combination of education and experience)

Bachelor’s degree in Student Affairs, Psychology, Education, Social Work or higher education related field and two years experience required. Demonstrated understanding of the experience of racially and/or ethnically diverse people and communities. Experience with counseling and/or teaching individuals and groups. Effective organizational and communication skills (oral, written) skills required. Demonstrated commitment to diversity, social justice issues, and fostering a collaborative, multicultural environment.
